In Year 1, we teach through a Developmentally Appropriate Practice approach, involving a hybrid of carefully planned continuous provision, play-based and inquiry led learning, challenges and enhancements, focus groups and short high-impact whole class teaching sessions.

At Brooklands, our curriculum has been adapted from the National Curriculum, so that learners revisit and deepen knowledge each year. Progress within topics has been mapped to ensure the previous year’s learning is consolidated and that new learning builds upon strong foundations.
